To experience different train travel in India, and cross the sub continent in luxury, try a journey on the Deccan Odyssey. In India the rail network is an important part of daily life. It is ranked second in the world for the sheer size of it. Usually the 14 million people who travel by train are squashed into carriages with bars at the windows or they travel on the roof. This train opens up a whole new world. This train is where the passengers are pampered whilst feasting their eyes on the changing scenery. The train totally cocoons its travellers from the outside world.

This is a journey to recapture the travel of the maharajahs. By taking this train tour you follow the epic journey of the Viceroy of India. You will travel 2,300km from Mumbai through Jaipur, Agra, Delhi, Bharatpur, and Varanasi to Siliguri in the far east. From here you travel by steam train to Darjeeling and on to Kolkata This route has opened thanks to the hard work of GW Travel, the rail journey experts behind the Trans-Siberian Express, negotiating terms with Indian diplomats. The train has two dining carriages, business centre, seating area with televisions, sleeping carriages with en-suite cabins and a spa car which includes a steam room and gym. There are also thirty eight staff who are there to ensure you have everything you desire.

The journey begins in the Victorian Mumbai Terminus that is over 150 years old. The train staff are dressed in traditional Maharashtran peshwar tunics and the greeting you receive from them gives you a brief glimpse of the service you will receive on the journey. Scarlet mats are placed at your feet whilst garlands are hung around your neck. A fantastic start to an unforgettable journey.

Every year, there are thousands of visitors who travel to Nice to enjoy a pleasant holiday by the seaside with their family. While family holidays might prove to be a bit tedious to plan, Nice is definitely one of the best destinations in the world to bring children and even pets. Here is a brief guide on how to enjoy your family holiday in Nice.

When travelling with family to Nice, it is a good idea to plan out the itinerary beforehand to ensure that all details are ironed out. The city offers tourists a number of recreational and cultural activities and one place that must definitely be visited when in Nice is the Castle Hill. This is a fortified enclosure, which is not only fun to explore, but also offers some breathtaking views of the famous Promenade des Angles as well as the old port.

If you and your children know how to ride a bicycle or skate you will be able to enjoy the fun activities at the Promenade des Angles which offers bike rides down the streets. This is an activity sure to be enjoyed by adventure lovers and one can easily rent a bike or roller skates from one of the many agencies across the Promenade depending on what you want to do.

You can also take a stroll through Old Nice, and discover the history and architecture of the region while visiting the many shops and little restaurants there. For people who enjoy visiting museums, a visit to the Musee International D’art Naif Anatole Jakovsky is sure to provide your children with many hours of entertainment. This includes workshops that take place here that cover various aspects of art like sculpture, painting and photography. There is also an excellent display of native paintings that are displayed at the museum.

You can also take your family to Bambou, a private beach area with swimming pools and a playground. The children will be able to play as much as they like here while you enjoy swimming and sunbathing.
Since family travel usually involves children, it is important to plan the trip well in advance to ensure that all the necessary arrangements have been made. It is best to book accommodation as soon as the travel plans have been finalised since this will ensure that you and your family will get the best possible rates on the accommodation of your choice in Nice.

Always have your train ticket with you. Just like all your other valuable travel documents such as your ID card and passport, your ticket should be well guarded. This is especially important if you are using a multiple type of pass. Carefully read the information indicated on your ticket, so you know the time for boarding and the platform that you are to wait on. When traveling on the train, keep the train pass with you in an easily accessible place, so that you can pull it out if needed. You do not want to have to be digging around in your bag for it.

Get to know your destination points well. Using a map or a tourist guide, you should be able to identify key areas, as well as basic signs regarding your train. This will prevent you from missing your stop or boarding the wrong train. Most train stations have passenger information in English, and you can also inquire at ticket offices if you have any concerns.

Be sure that you have enough food with you as you travel. Depending on the length of travel time, which can be anywhere from an hour to several hours, trains can provide first class passengers with food and drinks. If you are using a second class ticket, you can bring your own food beforehand, buy snacks on your next stop, or purchase them from on the train.

You should be familiar about luggage rules and guidelines on your train. Usually, each passenger should not have more than three items of luggage, and the size standards may vary depending on which country you are in. For example, if you are traveling in Europe, there are certain trains that do not allow pets, large pieces of luggage, or bicycles. Take note of these before you make a reservation or purchase your ticket.

Another note about luggage. It will be wise to properly label all your belongings. You can store your bags on overhead racks in the train, or even under your seat. Though you may have the option of having some luggage stowed in the luggage car of your train, not all stations have porters who can pick them up for you. Organizing your luggage properly makes finding them easy. According to sources, train stations are not liable for any luggage losses.

If you want to see the countryside and its many shades, traveling by train is one way to do it without having to worry about the cost of gas, reading a map, or taking alternative routes. When you board a train, you will be able to put your luggage away and relax in a cozy seat near the window. With snack cars, sleeping cars, and dining cars, traveling by train takes away the anxiety of travel and leaves you with some great vacation memories.

Train travel is a way to save money this summer, allowing you to take a family vacation. It can be considerably cheaper than air travel or traveling by car because the ticket price is not directly related to the price of fuel. Train travel is also much more convenient and hassle-free.

Discounts are available for many people that travel by train. All students, seniors and veterans receive a discount. AAA members receive 10% off. Children (ages 2-15) pay half price and one infant (0-2 years of age) per adult is free.

In addition to the many discounts offered, miles are earned each time you travel by train. These miles can be redeemed not only for free train travel, but also for free airfare. Amtrak, the major train company, also has a credit card that allows members to earn additional miles on all the purchases they make using that card.

Travel by train can be much more convenient than flying. Check-in is considerably faster at train stations than airports. There is no security to pass through. You just show that the name on your train ticket matches the name on your identification, if asked.

Train stations are conveniently located in the middle of the city, not on the edge like airports. This helps cut down on taxi fare to your desired destination.

When purchasing train fare, keep in mind that the price can vary between locations, so check the price from nearby cities to your destination. It may be cheaper to drive a little ways and catch a train from another city.

The price to travel by train also varies greatly by the accommodations chosen and services provided during train travel. It is harder to purchase regular coach seating in the summer, and around Thanksgiving and Christmas. These seats are usually booked well in advance. You can also choose from first-class seating, business-class seating and a variety of sleeping accommodations. Some of these rooms have showers and food provided. For other accommodations, food can be purchased on most trains.

Consider train travel this summer. Statistically it’s much safer than driving. It can be a relaxing and peaceful ride, accompanied by beautiful scenery. Also, the price can be much more affordable than air travel or car travel.

Traveling by train is a really quite easy since not a lot of people do this. Making reservations will not be a problem. In spite of this, it is always best to make reservations a few days or a few weeks before your expected travel time.

If you can, bring your own snacks and beverages when you are traveling by train. Some trains offer refreshments, but they usually charge a much higher price than you would pay at a normal shop. Bringing refreshments yourself means you pay a better price and get something that you know you will enjoy.

Many people prefer to bring their own pillows and blankets if they are taking a long trip. Some trains provide blankets, etc, for free, but if you are concerned about cleanliness then bringing your own is wise. Just make sure you do not pack too much, as not all train stations have porters or carts available, so you may have to carry your luggage a long way.

It is also a good idea is to bring cash along for the train ride. There are no ATM machines on trains and it is doubtful if all trains can process credit cards. So cash is the best way to go when traveling by train. There are other good reasons for having cash on hand. One such reason is that you might need to tip porters when disembarking the train. Also, you may need to get a taxi to bring you to your final destination where you want to go. In these cases, a credit card or ATM card will be useless.

Try to exercise a little during the train ride. Some simple stretching can help you feel more comfortable and prevent stiffness during a long trip. It can also reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis, a serious condition which causes blood clots to form in your arteries in your legs, and is believed to be aggravated by sitting for extended periods.

If you think there is something wrong with your bunk, don’t be afraid to ask for help from the train staff. Rest assured that they are trained to deal with this kind of thing, and above all, it is always best to be safe. In addition, they can also offer help with other problems that may arise, such as medical emergencies and other unforeseen events.
